Course: Health care systems
Acquaintance with different health care systems allows for their objective evaluation, taking into account particular circumstances of their environment. Knowledge concerning specific institutions, their role and tasks as well as financing of services in the health care system will help to address your problems properly, while knowledge of the criteria for inclusion of health technologies into or exclusion from the benefit package will increase the chance of successful obtaining and maintenance of reimbursement.
Definition
The term health protection refers to organised activity aimed at prevention and treatment of diseases and improvement of the health of the society, performed by means of a system adequate to the political system of the state (Concise Medical Encyclopaedia, PWN). The term health care refers to organised activity of a defined system of services provided by specific institutions (health care providers) (Concise Medical Encyclopaedia, PWN). Health protection includes health care and other activities affecting the health of the society (building, food policy, communal services, water management, sport, tourism etc.). The scope of the term health protection is therefore wider than that of health care.
