Course: Basic medical statistics
The objective of this course is to convey basic knowledge concerning the use of statistics in both EBM and HTA analyses. This knowledge makes it possible to fully understand statistical methods and adequately apply them in practice.
Intended participants
The course is addressed mainly to investigators and authors of medical publications as well as persons preparing or using HTA reports. It provides excellent supplementary information to other courses conducted by HTA Consulting.
Key abilities
After completing this course, the participant will be able to:
- interpret statistical parameters (e.g. the main value, standard deviation, p-value, power of the test, estimation error),
- calculate the necessary sample size for the study,
- analyse study results using basic statistical tests,
- select the appropriate statistical method for pooling of the results of many clinical trials in a meta-analysis,
- competently use statistical software.
